EDPR's parent company, EDP - Energias de Portugal - based in Lisbon, has been developing wind farms since 1996 when a 10 MW wind farm was built in the north of Portugal. Today EDPR has 35 wind farms across Portugal with total installed capacity of 920 MW (including Eólicas de Portugal consortium), and a regional office in the city of Porto, where a Dispatch Center controls EDPR wind farms remotely on a real time basis.
EDPR is also an active member of the ENEOP consortium with a 40% stake among the wind power operators that participate in it. This agreement gives EDPR the capacity to reach 1100 MW of total installed capacity until 2013.
